31st August - Recording was underway today at the world-famous Abbey Road studios in London for the BBC's film and audio production of Rachel Portman's opera The Little Prince, directed by Francesca Zambello and conducted by David Charles Abell with the BBC Concert Orchestra. The cast includes Lesley Garrett as the Fox, Sir Willard White as the King, Teddy Tahu Rhodes as the Pilot, Gweneth Ann Jeffers as Water, Richard Suart as the Businessman and Aled Jones as the Drunkard, as well as Paul Carey Jones on the first baritone line in the quartet and ensemble sections. The work is scheduled for broadcast at Christmas and release on CD and DVD in 2005.
