8th August - A live S4C audience watched tonight as The National Eisteddfod's premier vocal competition, the W.Towyn Roberts Scholarship, was won by Paul Carey Jones. The adjudicators, the soprano Mary Lloyd Davies, baritone Stephen Roberts, and conductor and repetiteur Wyn Davies, were unanimous in awarding the scholarship, worth £3000 towards the cost of a year of vocal study, to the Cardiff baritone, who joins a list of former winners which includes Leah-Marian Jones, Rhys Meirion and Bryn Terfel.
