26th August - Paul Carey Jones was announced late last night as the winner of the 2002 'Voice of Lampeter' (Llais Llwyfan Llanbed) competition for singers under the age of 30, receiving a prize of £1000 as well as a unique solid silver medallion. Second place went to the tenor Christopher Caroll from the Rhondda, with Stephanie Corley from Suffolk finishing third. The adjudicators were Odette Jones and Patricia O'Neill, whose adjudication spoke of a 'beautiful rich sound, excellent sense of character - a truly professional performance'.

The competition was recorded for BBC Radio Cymru and will be broadcast at 5pm on Sunday 13th October 2002.
